Keynote -The River Speaks: public interventions on de Nieuwe Maas'

On the 18th of November I had the pleasure to present part of my ongoing doctorate research at the first edition of the Professional Doctorate (PD) Day at the Social Impact Factory in Utrecht. Together with Maud van den Beuken we presented entanglements of our research interests as they unfolded through our collaboration in two distinct projects that took place in Rotterdam during 2024-2025. The "Resonant Cycles" laboratories; a series of creative laboratories with the aim of developing voicing and listening methodologies that approach the ecosystem of a city, as an echo- system, and "We carry the river"; a public procession where 40 people carried mud from the bottom of the river through the streets of Rotterdam, as an attempt to amplify the river’s voice.

Music games with the birds of the Brienenoord Island

On Sunday 18th of May I had the pleasure to lead a Sunday Atelier at Buitenplaats Brienenoord. During the workshop we learned the calls and melodies of some of the birds that live in the island. We imitated them by singing and playing instruments, and we walked around the island identifying them and placing them on a map.
